This is a remake of the CoD2 classic map Villers Bocage. The map is based on a scaled planview.... After a bit of research, I opened up CoD2 & typed these commands into the console...


/g_gametype dm *sets the next map to deathmatch


/devmap mp_breakout *starts V-Bocage in developer mode


/cg_drawgun 0 *gets rid of your weapon


/cg_draw2d 0 *gets rid of compass/hud


/r_showtris 1 *shows the map in wireframe


/noclip *allows you to move through clip the result of these commands means I could now fly up an out of the boundries of the map to take an overhead screenshot, ready for use as the plan view for the map.


I imported the screenshot to the right scale, placed buildings into the correct places. Then slowly but surely, started filling in the gaps with terrain. Some of the buildings are imported from CoD2 prefabs Newvillers/corevillers by changing to caulk & retextureing/adding decals some are custom built from scratch some buildings are from my previous map mp_clum


After I started the project, CoD2 maps became available as decompiled versions BUT THESE FILES WERE NOT COPIED. I have taken the Villers Bocage (mp_breakout.map) and used it for reference to complicated changes in terrain heights, but have been painstakingly (& Slowly!) building my own terrain whilst running CoDWaW Radiant alongside the CoD2 version of breakout in Devmap mode, to try and get things to look somewhat simular. These maps have been a great help when trying to place the DM TDM CTF spawn points in the original places, I have tried to keep the map as near to the original as possible, so no explodable trucks or barrels, just a few lamposts and extra sounds like birds in trees and spitfire/bomber flybys. Gametypes: DM, TDM, CTF, DOM, SD, SAB, KOTH Size 35.4Mb
