Heroes 7 Part 2 (1.0) The Great Escape

To play the great escape map right away, then just extract all the sounds from the sound archive to your main/sound folder. Then open thegreatescape.zip archive and extract all the contents to the correct folder. Just extract the two folder within thegreatescape folder to your COD4 dir. Then you are good to go!



To use thegreatesape_source files, please extract all the folder from thegreatescape_source folder to your COD4 dir.



In other words, all the stuff in the main should go to the main folder. Map_source files go into the map_source folder, etc.



Advanced users, you know what to do, so no need to read the above guide.



Enjoy!!!! You guys can edit the sounds if you think they are too quiet.



Run the map without developer on or logfile on!



Run with developer 0 and logfile 0! Consider yourself warned!



Please post good feedbacks and suggestions! No bad feedbacks! They will be not be replied. Consider yourself warned!



P.S. Comes with a bonus map.



If any files are missing, please reply to the thread. I don't think any files are missing, especially the sounds.

Well, it's not really white, it's bluish, sort of. I can't make the water dark like in the cargoship mission or else you can hardly see. The night is suppose to be dark, kind of a creepy effect and it's great to see ghost when it is dark.

"Did not notice any odd clipping, but I did notice that on the right end of the map, outside the fence, the "border" of the map seems to be floating a bit above the ground !!!"

Thought I fixed that... You will see more though, after you go pass the woods to the HQ building.

"Hehe, nice touch to have an "almost empty" magazine loaded in the weapons when picking them up!!! Add that to the urgency brought by being "compromised", it forces to reload after firing only a few bullets and can get you killed if not careful!"

Well, I didn't set the number of ammo for the weapons. For some reason the weapons just came with those amount of bullets. :S

"For glitches, I find the game "Hangs" for a bit when your teammate speaks some comments like when getting out of the hole and just before approaching the weapons ... Maybe a Mac Issue? I'm running v 1.7 on Mac OS 10.5.7..."

Getting out of the hole, there is a freezeplayer command, so it really isn't hanging. I do have hanging issues though, somewhere in the map. I have it in the cargoship mission though, like when I am going to the cargo area of the ship.

"Regarding the intro, the only negative thing I have to say is that it displays in widescreen "squished" mode, could have been full screen with no distortion... Oh well, no biggie... "

I use bink to convert the video so I have no reason why it was in widescreen and not full screen. No idea on how to change this. :S
You can watch it without cod4 on though. Just navigate to the video area and click on the video to watch. You need bink though.

It shouldn't end at the river. I don't know why. I tested it many times! After you complete objective 4, talking to the ghost, you're suppose to go the bushes to complete the fifth objective. Perhaps there was something wrong. I edited the blackout map and when I reached a certain point, the map ended as well, bringing me back to the main menu. Perhaps, this is happening to you. However, I have no idea why this is happening. Try using the source files to recompile the map, should work. The map should continue on toward the HQ building. Check the source files.

Great, but watch out for bugs, like people reported....

Please tell me if you actually reached the end of the mission, not the river part. I can't fix it b/c it never happened to me but you can show me if there is an error from the console and I can take a look at it. Also did you run with developer off and logfile off? If you did then that is great. However, you might need to leave on for the river part, it may help show you the error b/4 the mission ends or it may keep going.

I told you already that I uploaded already. You could have help? Well, yes, but I can't work with you if you keep telling me to look into the stock script when I could hardly understand where to search the problems. When I tested the map one last time, it was less buggy. There was only 2 errors that showed. I had tested many times, obviously when there was bugs I fix but I just don't know how to fix the river problem b/c it never occurred to me. It happened to you and not me. Co-op? There is no co-op in cod4 unless you're talking about WAW, but maybe I guess we can work together.... Unless you just wanna work on a cod4 map together. We can combine our scripting skills and mapping skills together, you can work on the terrain and decals... Just a thought. Sometimes, you won't let me finish what I am trying to say, I am trying to tell you the errors and you keep saying listen! I was explaining the problems and you kept saying listen, listen, listen and telling me to check the stock files.

Works for me !!! Can't qait to play the full Heroes 7 !!!
I tested this while waiting for the full Heroes 7 package to come in (slow connection here). It worked for me but there were a few glitches:

tested, water what?!
I had tested the map many times, even voidsource has tested it. What bugs!? Did you run without developer or logfile? Also, one error is just the getting hit one, something early in game and red lines something. That shouldn't matter. The other one is for one of the entity deleted. That shouldn't matter as it works. Water is white, what else would u expect it to be, huh? The other ones are too dark and it is night time anyway, if water is black, then it will be hard to see. Come on, I have no idea why it would work with you but with me. I have no idea why. Also, please specify the bugs!

What is wrong with player clips?! There is only one! It's to block one trigger so you can't access it until one objective is completed!

You really should have tested this map before releasing it, its just full of bugs, the water is white and whats with all the player clips....
